They assist in maintaining overall safety and security during assigned shifts and during emergency situations.
Conducts safety inspections, responds to code designated incidents and other emergencies.
The Security Officer writes comprehensive reports detailing causes, actions and responses to incidences and is also responsible for investigating incidents and submits related reports and recommendations.
Locations FARMINGDALE RTE 110 What you will do Conducts safety inspections, responds to code designated incidents and other emergencies.
Assists in controlling entrance and exits to unit for visitor management Maintain a safe environment through appropriate supervision and use of behavioral management skills and interventions to guide residents through leisure activities.
Conduct searches of Residents and rooms for contraband items.
Inspect common areas and residents living units to maintain health, safety and sanitation standards.
Monitor secure perimeter and monitor and control access to restricted areas.
Use conflict management, non-escalation and de-escalation skills and, call for police backup when all other interventions have failed.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with residents to support them in their goals.
Reinforce use of safe practices including methods of supervision and structure that maintain a non-violent environment.
Adhere to and reinforce established HALO rules, policies, and procedures and utilize proper protocols when responding to critical incidents, physical altercations, medical emergencies, fire drills and other incidents.
Utilize computer software to document incident reports and other activities when required Overseeing security monitors, building access, and carrying out periphery checks.
Issues visitor and vendors passes; and maintains the integrity of such identification systems.
Controls access to the site by confirming the identity of visitors, and mail and supply couriers, maintaining a visitor log.
Operates detection equipment to screen Residents and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.
Responds to calls for assistance from visitors, clients, or employees in handling emergency situations, administers first aid, and summons emergency services to ensure that sick or injured persons receive appropriate care.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to effectively and efficiently respond to medical emergencies, manage aggressive behaviors and monitor security of the unit Ability to learn and effectively use approved crisis prevention techniques Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Residents, staff, and the general public, generate ideas, consult with multidisciplinary departments, and coordinate administrative solutions to alleviate security problems Ability to learn and apply security regulations and residents' rights Ability to relate to others in a calm, tactful and courteous manner Ability to solve problems and identify solutions Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment ACTIVE OR RETIRED LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPERIENCE PREFFERED REQUIRED
Qualifications:
Must have a current Security Guard license issued by the New York State Department of State.
Candidate must meet physical/medical requirements.
Must have valid New York State Driver's License.
